The Lord of My Life.

“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” ~ John 14:2, 3.

I never planned my life. The Lord did. So, I am living it daily according to God’s scripting. I can’t see the future, He is my future. So long as my gaze is fixed on Him I know where I’m going – home to Him. I know He loves me, He proved it by Jesus. He commands me (see Luke 10:27; Matthew 22:37; Mark 12:30, 31) to love Him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind.” Why shouldn’t I? And He also commands me to love others, “love your neighbor as yourself.” What’s wrong in that? Also, “Love your enemies” (Matthew 5:44; Luke 6:27). Tough call that! But He says, “I will repay,” (Romans 12:19). So Lord, I will obey that command too because I love you. He gave me tasks to perform – of serving others. They seemed like burdens to me. Over time, I became His vessel. It became a privilege to be counted worthy of use by Him for His purpose – in loving service of others. I realized that He was looking after and caring for them – through me. That was a humbling, joyful realization!

It is better to hand over the reins of our lives to The Master because He knows what’s best for us. He is the Good Shepherd. I can hear Him say, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep,” John 10:11. That means, I am sheltered in His fold and He would even go to the extent of defending us with His life. I find comfort and security in that fact because He has got me covered.

He is also the Pilot of our lives. It is good to hand over the controls to Him. Let Him take care of the stress and anxieties of life. He is the Right Person to drive our life vehicles. When we hand over control to Him, we don’t have to fret during difficult times because He has overcome the world (John 16:33). We can be at peace. I can hear Him say, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). Isn’t that a comforting assurance? I rest myself in Him and His promises because I know that He is true. He is safely taking us home because He is the way – “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6.

Jesus Savior, Pilot me

Jesus, Savior, pilot me,
Over life’s tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll,
Hiding rock and treach’rous shoal;
Chart and compass came from Thee:
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

As a mother stills her child,
Thou canst hush the ocean wild;
Boist’rous waves obey Thy will
When Thou say’st to them, “Be still!”
Wondrous Sov’reign of the sea,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

When at last I near the shore,
And the fearful breakers roar
’Twixt me and the peaceful rest,
Then, while leaning on Thy breast,
May I hear Thee say to me,
“Fear not, I will pilot thee.”
