Love is a word that is often thrown around casually in our everyday conversations. We say we love our favorite food, we love a good movie, or we love spending time with friends. But what does it truly mean to experience love in its purest and most profound form? As believers, we are called to embrace Jesus’ unending love, a love that surpasses all understanding and measures.
The Depth of Jesus’ Love
When we think about love, we often think about the love we receive from our family and friends. But Jesus’ love goes far beyond that. In John 15:13, Jesus says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Jesus demonstrated the depth of His love by willingly sacrificing Himself on the cross for our sins. His love is selfless, unconditional, and unmeasured.
Imagine a parent who would do anything for their child, even if it meant sacrificing their own life. That is the kind of love Jesus has for us. It is a love that knows no bounds and is willing to go to the greatest lengths to show us how much we are valued and cherished.
Experiencing Jesus’ Love
So how do we experience this unmeasured love in our own lives? It starts with opening our hearts and minds to Jesus’ presence. In Ephesians 3:17-19, the apostle Paul writes, “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
Paul’s prayer reminds us that experiencing Jesus’ love requires a deep-rooted faith and a willingness to surrender ourselves to Him. It is through this surrender that we can truly grasp the magnitude of His love and be filled with the fullness of God.
One way to experience Jesus’ love is through prayer. Prayer is a powerful tool that allows us to connect with God and experience His love firsthand. When we pour out our hearts to Him, we invite Him into our lives and allow His love to transform us from the inside out.
Living Out Jesus’ Love
As followers of Christ, we are called to not only receive His love but also to share it with others. In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”
Jesus’ commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves reminds us that love is not just a feeling, but an action. It requires us to extend kindness, compassion, and forgiveness to those around us, just as Jesus has done for us.
One of the most powerful ways we can live out Jesus’ love is by serving others. In Mark 10:45, Jesus says, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” When we serve others selflessly, we reflect the love of Christ and become vessels of His unending love.
Embracing Jesus’ Unending Love
Embracing Jesus’ unending love is a lifelong journey. It requires us to continually seek His presence, surrender our lives to Him, and live out His love in our daily interactions. It is a love that surpasses all understanding and measures, a love that transforms us from the inside out.
